Pokhara Valley Tour |
Located 200km west of Kathmandu is the peaceful valley of Pokhara. This for most is the starting point for all sorts of adventure that is guaranteed to have an everlasting effect. The valley is a paradise in its own with lush forests, turquoise lakes, gushing swift rivers and the fabulous Himalayas providing a majestic backdrop. The landscape of this place changes dramatically. Just 50km from the valley, which is at an altitude of 9,13m, is Annapurna I at an astounding height of 8,091m. Among the Himalayas seen from here the most prominent is the Annapurna range stretching from east to west. The Annapurna massif includes Annapurna I to IV and Annapurna south.
Another name that is closely linked with the name of Pokhara is the famous Machhapuchre or the ' Fish Tail Mountain ' which gets its name from its needle pointed pinnacle forked into two like the fish's tail.

This tour takes you to the famous valley of Pokhara and explore its natural and cultural diversity. We begin this tour by an early morning drive to Pokhara. It takes about 5 to 6 hours by bus along a picturesque road. After we reach there we stay at Mum's Garden resort located at Lakeside, famous for handicraft shops and restaurants. After a taditional Nepali lunch we go to Phewa lake which is quite near to the hotel. Here we take a boat ride to the island in the middle of the lake where there is a temple of Barahi. After the pleasant boat ride we drive to see David's fall or locally known as Patale Chango which is an awesome waterfall that disappears into the depth of the gorge below quite a fascinating natural wonder. Then we drive to see some of the cultural sites of Pokhara like the Bindhyabasini temple, world peace pagoda, Seti Gandaki and Mahendra Ghupha. We then head back to hotel and enjoy some time off by exploring the colorful shops. Next morning we drive early to Sarangkot and hike to the top for a magnificent sunrise over the himalayas. Still further is a village of Naudanda for the beautiful panoramic view that covers the whole range of the Annapurna and the Lamjung massif. We then drive to the twin lakes , Begnas and Rupa which surely is the most picturesque excursion. We then head back to hotel where we will have a traditional Nepali dinner. The trip ends with a flight back to Kathmandu.
David's Fall or Patale Chango: This is another natural wonder of Pokhara. An awesome waterfall that disappears into the blackness of the deep gorge that lies below. Legend has it that a trekker named David was swept by the Pardi Khola and who mysteriously disappeared into the underground passage of this waterfall. Thereafter it is named after him.
Mahendra Gupha: This a natural wonder, a lime stone cave which is very popular for its stalactites and stalagmites formations as well as for the bats that live here. There is another cave 2km from the Pokhara airport on the Siddhartha Highway called Gupteshwor Gupha. This is a very interesting cave because it has some hall size rooms as well as places where you have to crawl on all four limbs. There is a sacred phallic, the symbol of Lord Shiva in here. So it holds a special value for Hindus who come to worship here.
Phewa Lake:
It is the second largest lake in the kingdom. The tranquility of this lake and the magnificent Machhapuchre rising high behind it with its still image on the water of the lake creates an ambience of peace and magic. The eastern shore of this lake is popularly known as Lakeside or Baidam, favorite place for the travelers and place for hotels, restaurants and handicraft shops. The lake has in the middle an island like place where the temple of Barahi is located. This is an important religious monument. A boat ride to the temple is the most loved activity here. Besides Phewa lake there are other lakes too like Begnas lake and Rupa lake not crowded like Phewa and situated in secluded spots that makes them an ideal place for a quiet natural retreat.
Seti Gandaki:
This is one amazing river that flows right through the valley of Pokhara. Hardly seen only the powerful gush of this river can be heard. It is amazingly 20m deep, the best place to get its glimpse is from the top of a small bridge called Mahendrapul from where its gushing sound can be heard as well as the deep gorge made by its powerful flow can be observed.
Bindhyabasini temple: This is yet another site of pilgrimage in Pokhara. Situated in the colorful heart of the city, the old bazaar, this temple is dedicated to Goddess Bhagwati who is the manifestation of Shiva's Shakti. It is center of religious activity here in the old bazaar and is surrounded by grounds that provide an ideal place for a picnic. Sacrifices are conducted on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
World Peace Pagoda:
Situated on top of a hill on the southern shore of Phewa lake is a massive stupa of Lord Buddha. This is an impressive shrine and also a great vantage point for unobstructed vistas of the Annapurna range and Pokhara valley
