Kathmandu is the largest
and the most prominent of the three
cities that constitute the valley. Also
being the capital city it has more of
the western influence than the rest
but one can always go back into the
past to see the Kathmandu in the bygone
days. The cities medieval form is never
too far away from reach. The artistic
temples and shrines in the periphery
of the ancient palaces and Durbar squares
are the constant reminder of the history
of this once ancient city.
Our varied day biking trips within
Kathmandu Valley allows you to enjoy
its hidden pockets rarely frequented
by westerners thus giving you a chance
to see the other back side of Kathmandu.
The Cost Includes:

bottle, biking guide with mechanical
backup, support vehicle
- All entry fees
- 11 nights accommodation on full
board and twin sharing basis
- 2 nights Kathmandu (Thamel) accommodation
on twin sharing room only basis

Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu-Transfer
in Hotel
Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu.Back
to Hotel
Day 3: Bike through the busting back
streets of Thamel. Arrive at Nagarjun
Forest(the Queen’s Forest) where
we head off-road, starting with good
wide undulating track before a long
10km climb up through the jungle.
At the bottom we transfer or for the
seriously fit ride the last 22km on
the back road up to Kakani. Our campsite,
set in a reserve at 2000m, enjoys
stunning views of Ganesh and Langtang
Himal and the valley of Likhu Khola
1000m below. Ride 55km. Camp/lodge
at Kakani.
Day 4: Bike to Budhanilkantha. Following
the valley rim we stay high above
Kathmandu and continue on single track
down hill and traverse towards Nagi
Gompa, a Buddhist Tibetan Monastery.
We camp in or near the grounds giving
sufficient time to absorb the rich
Tibetan culture and see the evening
Puja. Ride 28km. Camp at Nagi Gompa.
Day 5: Continuing on our way we ride
on a mixture of jeep trail & single
track through the Shivapuri Reserve.
Part of the route is on the Helambu
trekking trail. Our final destination
is Chisapani .Enjoy oustanding views
of Annapurna Himal.The ride is 30km,
with 4x4 vehicle support and a picnic
lunch on the way.-Ride 33km Tea House
at Chisapani.
Day6: We ride down from Chisapani
into the NE corner of the KTM valley,
then it’s on to a mix of single
and jeep track to wind our way to
Nagarkot, our route will depend on
the condition of the trails. Overnight
in Hotel.
Day 7: Today we explore the trails
around Nagarkot or you can take a
rest day. There are numerous off-road
routes possible today either road,
or wide dirt and single track. We
have a choice of day rides ending
at the medieval town of Bhaktapur
for lunch then time to look around
before transfer back up the hill to
Nagarkot, or ride up the road if you
wish. Also it’s possible to
visit Changu Narayan, a must for those
interested in culture - the ancient
temple complex here, which includes
the oldest Hindu temple in the valley
- it’s on the way and enjoys
commanding views over the valley and
it’s fine statues are the best
outside the National Museum. O/N Hotel.
Day 8: The ‘Retread’ Trails.
This is an epic single track descent
through terraced paddy fields and
small villages that lead us to the
Indrawati River. We will stop to take
photos as the Himalayas are right
behind us all the way down and also
makes offerings at the local temples
to help ensure that we remember those
technical skills when we need them.
After 1000m of downhill a jeep road
leads us to the Freedom Highway, the
main road to Tibet. We have lunch
in a secret spot by the river before
the long climb back up to the valley
rim. For most this is best done in
the support vehicle. Ride 65km. O/N
Hotel.
Day 9: Taking the new Japanese dirt
road to Panauti, a soared site for
burning your dead. Then it is a mix
of wide and narrow trail that gently
climbs up the Lakhure Bhanjyang before
a steep descent to Lubhu and to the
Judy Farm House set in the grounds
of the Appropriate Agriculture Alternative
farm that provides all the special
foods for the top hotels in KTM. Time
to laze around and look around the
farm before a sumptuous dinner. Ride
34km. AAA Farm House.
Day 10: We explore the valley floor
South of the city now, stopping in
Bungamati, having lunch here which
is a view point of the whole valley
floor, before riding on past Dakshin
Kali, a Hindu live sacrifice spot,
near the hotel. Ride 40km. Dakshin
Kali Village Inn.
Day 11: We spend the morning sampling
some exciting trails that lead up
and across the valley rim to the south
and on to the Kulekhani Dam Site.
A picturesque lake, which provides
the backdrop on our last night out
of Kathmandu and out last under canvas.
Ride 35km. Markhu Camp (Kulekhani).
Day 12: Today we ride up past the
end of the Kulekhani Lake on wide
dirt trail to Palung and then take
a broken tarmac road descent to Naubise
and out transport back to Kathmandu.
We stop at Swoyambhunath Stupa for
lunch and a look around on the way
into the city. From here we ride back
to the Guesthouse through the bustling
streets of Kathmandu to our hotel.
Ride 55km. O/N Hotel.
Day 13: Leisure day in Kathmandu
for shopping or start optional programme.
Day 14: Departure or start optional
programme.
